Rome - Trevi Fountain
I’m going to start writing out my wish list on my here! This is going to be the first of many to come.
I was listening to some of my old favorite songs the other day and Angelito Vuela by Don Omar started playing. As soon as I heard it I immediately thought of the music video. It is because of this music video that I want to visit Rome! The music video takes place in Rome and if you have seen this video on a large screen TV you will know what I’m talking about.
Here’s the music video in Rome! If you don’t like the song, mute it… and enjoy the scenery! lol
Even though there are many places I would like to see in Rome, what got to me the most was the Trevi Fountain, which is shown in the 2nd half of the video. (To skip right to the Trevi Fountain go to this YouTube page and fast forward to 3:50.) I don’t know, I have a thing for water (which is why I’m fond of beaches/oceans/lakes). But when I saw the Trevi
Fountain on the big screen TV I was amazed. So I wasn’t surprised when I read that the Trevi Fountain “…is the largest — standing 25.9 meters (85 feet) high and 19.8 meters (65 feet) wide — and most ambitious of the Baroque fountains of Rome.”
There’s also a tradition about tossing a coin into the fountain. It is said that if you toss a coin into the fountain, you will return to Rome in the future. Some new superstitions are that you will find a new romance if you throw two coins into the fountain and get married or divorced (?!) if you throw in three coins. And finally, it is said that it is good luck if you throw three coins with your right hand over your left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain.
So this is something I would like to do someday. Visit Rome, see the Trevi Fountain, and toss some coins in there for good luck!
