Exfoliate for Tanning
Finally coming to terms with the fact that I… NEED A TAN!
I used to be a beach regular, but honestly… I just can’t go as much as I used to. I don’t have the time and if I do happen to have a bit of time for one day.. I can’t keep it up consistently. So I end up losing the tiny tan I got and it just gets a bit frustrating.
So… I’m going to DO IT!.. =x… I’m going to go to a … *gulp*… TANNING SALON!
I’m seriously nervous, lol.
I’ve been looking up tanning salons and found one I’m really interested in. The boyfriend and I are going to check it out. But most likely I will be going there.
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been looking up everything TANNING and the word is that in order to get the best and longest lasting tan - you must EXFOLIATE! I already exfoliate my face but never my body so I’ve been trying to figure out which way is the best way to exfoliate your body?
I still don’t know. I know that on the day of the tan you should only use oil free products and all of the body scrub body washes I found had some type of oil in it.

But I got one anyways
I found this Neutrogena Energizing Sugar Body Scrub, tried it, and LOVED IT! Mind you, it has oil in it. But I’m not going to use this on days that I tan… I’m going to use it every so often on non-tan days. I can’t compare it to other body scrubs because this is the first body scrub I’ve tried but I can tell you that it smells great (citrusy) and it definitely made my skin softer and smoother!
I just couldn’t find an OIL FREE body wash body scrub. I also bought Oil of Olay with sea salts and microbeads but haven’t tried it yet. I love Oil of Olay, I use another body wash of theirs everyday (and have been using it for the past few years) but I don’t know those sea salts and microbeads just aren’t that impressive to me LOL. And I’m just saying that because the salts and microbeads are few and I don’t think it would exfoliate that well.
If anybody knows of a really good oil free body scrub let me know!
Thankfully I found out about something else - EXFOLIATING GLOVES! Yes! At first I thought it was kind of weird but thought what the heck, I’ll give it a try.
So I got these Exfoliating Gloves at The Body Shop for like $7. The girl that worked there said you could use it with any body wash. So I used it and WOW! Just as great as that Neutrogena Energizing Body Scrub that I used - minus the citrusy smell of course- AND it was so much more easier and faster. This is definitely the way to go.
I was a bit skeptical at first, I thought the gloves would be too soft and I thought it’d be like me using a regular small towel but nope - it worked great! Skin was nice and smooth and soft afterwards, I definitely definitely definitely recommend the gloves. The Neutrogena will run out eventually, but these gloves can be used multiple times! Just rinse and hang to dry afterwards! How many times can you use it? I have yet to find out. So we’ll see.
So yea, for now I’m doing the gloves thing.
Next? I found out about XFOLI8.com , they have a bunch of exfoliating products including one that’s made specifically for use before tanning! It’s a Pre Tanning Preparation Mitt. It’s also like $32. The company is also in Australia. I’m really tempted to try it, but I don’t know.
For now I’m really satisfied with the exfoliating gloves from The Body Shop. When I start tanning I’ll see… if I’m not happy with the tanning results I might go ahead and get the Pre Tanning Mitt. We’ll see. Until then, have a great weekend everyone!
