MySpacer & Web Design

HI! It’s Saturday, and I’m taking a little break… from everything.

MySpace Layout Sneak PeekThis week I finally came up with layout scheme for my MySpace page and even though I had some creativity blocks along the way… I’m almost done! :D I haven’t posted it up on my MySpace page just yet… I have another myspace page where I set up and test the layout first… so yea. I’ll definitely have it up by the end of this upcoming week.

Some of you already know that I do this whole web design thing as a hobby, I’ve never taken any classes or anything (I think it’s pretty obvious). I’ve basically just been learning about making web pages since I was in high school. I enjoy coming up with an idea or concept and then try to develop and display it online. While trying to figure out how the heck to do many of these things along the way I’ve come across some websites that I have found very useful and these are the sites I would like to share with everybody.

Here are a few that come to mind:

  • DynamicDrive.com – I think it’s so crazy that I’m blogging about this site since I’ve been visiting this site for as long as I can remember (high school). I think this site existed before BLOGS existed, haha. Dynamic Drive has a bunch of neat scripts that you can use for your website. An example of a script I used from them is in my Gallery section… you know that cool little special effect you get when you click on the thumbnails? Got that from DynamicDrive!I also love the newer section on the site, the Dynamic Drive CSS Library. This is where I got the code for my tab menu that’s on this very site! I just edited/personalized it a bit more to go with my layout :)
  • 1001freefonts.com – Do I really need to explain this one? Hello? 1,001 free fonts… because sometimes Times New Roman, Tahoma and Verdana just won’t cut it!
  • ColorMixers.com – I find this site very useful when I’m either working on a layout on Photoshop or working on the HTML/CSS coding on a site. This site lets you pick a Primary color that you are using, and then suggests other colors that will look good with your primary color! I use this when I’m stuck and don’t know what colors to use and need ideas.

Well, I guess that’s it for now! Later on when I’m finished with my MySpace page I’m going to go ahead and add these site links to my Extras section for future reference for you all.
